Last Mini Mester of the Year... Week 36

Hi all! Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day!
Back to school time for us. We had a wonderful break. We actually took an extra weeks break because we have had such fun! Yesterday was our first day back. We done lots of review with lots of fun as our main goal for yesterday. Can't overload on the first day back in 3 weeks!

Updates on a few things since our 3 weeks:

New member of the family. Her name is Cali. She is gorgeous! We love her tons. She is a shy and very loving natured kitten.
She is my baby!!

I posted Vacation pics and info about our trip here.

This is our first full year doing our new schedule(year round), 8 weeks school 2 weeks off. We have loved it. This has also been our first year using the Workbox System from Sue Patrick too! I can't begin to explain how wonderful this year has been!! I was so scared this year having all 3 kids doing school, I prayed hard to find something to help me manage everyone and still get work done with my sanity still in tack!! Man did God listen to me and He sent me the Workbox System. It helps me complete so much more than I have in any of my previous years! It's been fantastic! Wish I would of found it sooner, However it came at the most needed time in my homeschool journey!

We have completed ALL our scheduled curriculum for the year. However since we completed it last 8 weeks, We have been polishing up on some things that they needed review on. We are in FULL REVIEW MODE the next 7 weeks during our "summer period" !!

Here is a list of WHAT I want to review:

Kyle
~ Cursive handwriting. I need him to become comfortable with writing this way, I want him to start writing his stories in cursive.
~ Multiplication Facts
~ Area & Perimeter
~ Parts of Speech
~ Writing Mechanics
~ Science Topics: Animal Groups/Food Groups/Space/Geology
~ States & Capitals
~ Reading of course daily, but I am letting them pick instead of me guiding the way!

Lexi
~ Telling Time
~ Money(this is a very hard one for her)
~ Addition & Subtraction Facts
~ Writing Mechanics
~ Science Topics: Animal Groups/Food Groups/Space/Geology
~ AAS Rules(key cards)
~ Reading Daily

Zac
~ Counting to 100 (without messing up)
~ Being able to write letter when asked (hardest task for him)
~ Telling Time
~ Counting by 2, 5 and 10's.
~ Writing
~ Addition Facts
~ Sounds of alphabet

On top of my review items we will be doing Unit Studies on Dinosaurs and Clouds this 7 weeks(spending about 3 weeks on each)! You all know me and my unit studies! You didn't really think I didn't have some planned this semester did you??

Here is our Dinosaur Basket...

This is my favorite book:
I love the cover of it.
Looks so interesting and a little scary, Lexi says.

  1. What a cute little kitten!! Sounds like you've had a GREAT year! We've never tried the workbox system here, but in some ways our work BINDERS are very similar...I slip in worksheets, graph and lined paper between 5 dividers where each section is a day. LOVE the unit studies! Fun stuff!
