We spent this last mini mester learning about different Dinosaurs and having some fun with where they lived long ago. We didn't really try to learn time periods just simply because my children are a little to young for that I feel. With it being summer and this was requested by DS2 a lot of what I could and might go back and teach was left out. He has requested this about 7 months ago and I was saving it for the "fun" part and time of our school schedule during summer. Over all the kids learned a ton about the Dinosaurs and the different kinds of families and areas at which they lived.
Here are some activities we done:
This was our Dinosaur Book/Puzzle Basket.
Dino in gel.
Montessori Dinosaur Cards from Montessori Print Shop
Misc Dinosaur printouts.
Melissa & Doug Puzzle.
Kids being the Paleontologist, but they said they preferred to be called the "Dino Diggers".
We also ate Dino Leaves and anything that I could shape into a Dinosaur - we did! For lunch one day we had salad which was the Dinosaur leaves! Next day we ate a sandwich cut in the shape of a Dinosaur by the cookie cutters! Tyson also sales Dinosaur shaped Chicken Nuggets!
HAVE FUN!!
WE DID.
Looks like y'all had a great time! I didn't realize (or maybe I forgot) that you lived close to Blowing Rock. Maybe we'll be able to meet up sometime there. Enjoy the cooler weather! I love it there in the summer!
ReplyDeleteWe did a dino unit last year and had a lot of fun with it. My boys are dinosaur obsessed, so they had a blast with it.
