Purex Crystals Scent Splash {Giveaway & Review}

Oh my favorite product to use in laundry just got better!

You see I love Purex Crystals. I buy them regularly and enjoy the awesome scent they give BUT today I get to talk to you about a new product that Purex has introduced.

Purex Crystals ScentSplash!!

Like I said I do love the Crystals but 35% more wash loads than 18oz Purex Solid Crystals so this is helpful for me to know so I can start buying these instead! It's better value for my money!

The fragrance booster comes in 3 wonderful scents to enjoy:

Fresh Spring Waters

Fresh Lavender Blossom

Fresh Mountain Breeze

I have tried Fresh Spring Waters personally in my families own laundry for the last 2 weeks.

Once you get your clothing sorted and your ready to start filling your washer your going to add your detergent(Purex PowerShot is awesome if your looking for a new detergent) and then I add my Purex Crystals ScentSplash to the load. There is a line for 1 or 2 depending on how much laundry your washing and depending on your scent preference. I have been adding to the first line. Once I have added both to my washer I add my clothing.

Then your done! Besides waiting on the washer and dryer to finish their cycles.

When your go to change your clothing from the washer to the dryer you can smell the wonderful fragrance! Then once your ready to fold your clothing you get to smell the rest of its goodness!

I love putting on fresh smelling clothes.

The scent has been lasting in our folded stored away laundry very well.

Purex Crystals will be available in a store new year starting in April but I have a free coupon for a lucky reader!!

Lord Heritage - HomeSchool Office { Review }

HomeSchool Office Review

Today I am going to tell you a little about a recent review from Lord Heritage or HomeSchool Office.

This program is to help the homeschool parent stay organized and to help you keep all of your records up to date in one place.

I was given a full year subscription to Lord Heritage for review. The cost is $79 for the year and countless students. Being a momma of 3 I always look at if there is an additional cost per child and here you are safe!

As a homeschool parent I find it very hard to keep up with 3 children's items for grades and assignments however over the 10 years I have homeschooled I have found some nice tricks and tips.

homeschool office

Since Homeschool Office is all online and I am a pen paper gal I did have some trouble using this.

First you are going to log in and you will find the above waiting for you. You choose where you need to go and it starts helping you select forms to start recording information. The set up of the program is by far the hardest part and longest part. I have logged in and out for weeks and tried staying on for up to a couple hours just figuring this out and inputting information. I actually had to keep looking in the support section for answers and help on trying to set up a schedule for my children, so I HIGHLY recommend looking in the support section!

I created my TEAM first telling about our homeschool then I quickly moved on to the Plan section which is where I had to spend some time. I then used the Report and Evaluate to update all the grades for the year so far. Since we homeschool year round that went all the way back to September (I admit I didn't do this for all 3 kiddos).

Since this year is the first year I have to track grades and assignments for high school transcripts this is going to help me. Although this is hard for me I have finally gotten a system that works just for keeping up for records sake. Transcripts have always scared me honestly and so having a place to report and record without worry has been nice but having to go back to the beginning of the year to put it all in the report wasn't that fun but that was no fault of the program just bad timing for myself!

You can actually print everything out if needed however I didn't find it a good fit for me to do so.

Personally, this just wasn't a good fit for me. I respect all the aspects of the program because it is VERY thought out and detailed for the person that has more time than I.

I have been homeschooling I guess too long to change to a different way of tracking things for my students.

There is a 30 day trail that you could try before you buy to see if this program is a better fit for you!

Andrew Johnson Field Trip

We had a wonderful time exploring and learning about the 17th president in Greeneville TN yesterday. I learned several things and so did hubby. I love that homeschooling not only teaches my children but I am always learning too.

The weather was beautiful and just perfect for the day outside.

We explored his early home and residence that he occupied after he settled in Greeneville. We learned history about him during his presidency and also visited his grave site at the national cemetery.

Dial Miracle Oil Body Wash { Review & Giveaway }

Today I get to tell you about a wonderful review item that Dial sent me!

First off everyone loves body wash items and I am no exception. I have at any given time at least 3 body wash items in my shower. I have passed that on to my daughter.

Dial has a new product that I was excited to try on my skin, Miracle Oil Body Wash. Sounds interesting doesn't it? Well, this new body wash has marula oil infused within to give your skin a soft and smooth feel.

Marula oil is known to deeply hydrate and nourish skin while protecting it from skin damaging free radicals.

Oils in hair and cosmetics are getting trendy so Dial had to bring that to their body line as well.

I have to brag on the lather of the product. I love bubbles and I love that this body wash gives me lots of that to enjoy.

The body wash has a pleasant smell.

Most of all my favorite part is that after my shower I feel totally refreshed and my skin feels so soft and smooth.

I love feeling wonderful after my shower! I normally take a shower to yes clean but to also relax and I am happy to say this helps!

Enter to win a free coupon to try this awesome new Dial product for yourself!

Dyslexia & Their Vision

Did you know that Dyslexia is not normally the sole purpose of the overall issue?

For my son we found that he also has vision issues and combining the two issues makes for one large reading issue!

We are currently working our way through some exercises that can be done at home to gain strength and control while waiting on our appointment with a professional that we where referred too.

However in all my studying I thought you could use some helpful information about the topic.

Dyslexia is not caused by vision problems but good vision of course is important to reading development.

1 in 5 school aged children have a vision disorder.

Here are some signs to look for if you believe your child has signs of Dyslexia or vision issues:

One eye drifting from the other
Tilting of the head
Your child squints or closes eyes often
Your child may seem to have a very short attention span for their age
Poor hand eye coordination
Child avoids coloring and puzzles
Blurred vision
headaches
loses his place easily (if attempting to read)
omits words when reading
difficulty if reading for a long period (over 10 mins normally for this age)

Did you know that your child can have 20/20 vision but still have undetected vision problems?

My son has several of these issues:
tilting of his head
avoids coloring and hands on activities that are detailed
blurred vision
headaches
loses his place easily
omits & adds words
difficulty reading for long periods

Vision therapy may be needed and should any of these issues be found in your child consult your pediatrician for a referral to someone who could help you further.

Here are some of the exercises we are doing and was recommended from a learning specialist:

We are doing sense stimulation with blocking glasses to help his left brain deficiency. I will be posting about how we made them next week.

Wide Eye Stretches: Look as far to the right as possible and hold that position for 4 seconds. Next look left and hold then look up and hold it and lastly look down and hold. This was very uncomfortable for Zachary last week when we started. He actually wasn't able to hold it but about 2 seconds without getting dizzy. So we are working up to 4 seconds.

Zachary has very slow eye movement so we are doing an exercise that will help build his eye movement together by holding a pencil about 14 inches away from his nose and having him follow the pencil(marker/crayon) while keeping his head straight (remember I said he tilts his head). We move the pencil in all directions and do this for about 20 seconds at a time. We need to build up to one minute.

He has issues with near and far focusing so we are doing an exercise having him look at a clock and back at an item. He is having issues with having a clear image(blurry). This is an issue I knew he had because he can not copy and write anything well.

Visual processing tasks by having him look at number flash cards of one digit and flashing 3 or 4 at a time and having him remember the sequence.

NCHE Conference Giveaway & Reasons To Go!

I love our annual states homeschool conference/convention. Here in North Carolina we meet yearly in Winston Salem and thousands of fellow homeschoolers come together to learn, listen and encourage each other.

For the second year in a row I have been honored to be a part of  the NCHE official blogger team and I love that I am allowed to give a reader of mine a FREE FAMILY REGISTRATION!

Here are some reasons I love going to a conference each year and maybe you would too!

Homeschooling is hard. PERIOD. I need all the encouragement that I can get honestly and I know that I am not the only one. Each year at conference I get new ideas on how to teach my children, how to teach a new method or how to adapt to my child's new talent or interest. I need that!

You?

Laughter, yes laughter. It's medicine for the soul and I laugh so very much at speaking sessions.

Fellowship with people that agree with what your doing. That means a lot. Every day you are surrounded by people that question or degrade your choice and this is the one place you are in awesome company!

Vendor Hall, need I say more? Even though most years I do not buy my actual curriculum from the conference I love going in and physically touching and looking at curriculum that I have an interest in or finding a great deal within the used books suppliers!

Talented Speakers; Over the years I have came to love some speakers and make sure that I attend almost all of their sessions. You can learn so much and because there are so many you are surely going to find something that is of interest to you (special learners, high school, dads, newbies, etc).

Want to join me this year at NCHE's 2015 Thrive? Enter to win a free family registration.
