USAopoly Game Reviews

We love games, all games and we own a lot. Needless to say we needed more!  USAopoly sent my family 2 games to review and play!

My family received Wonky The Crazy Cube Card Game & Tapple Fast Word Fun For Everyone to review.

My children are ages 10, 12 and 15. I played and I will not tell my age lol but we all enjoyed each game greatly.

Wonky: The Crazy Cube Card Game

This game is recommended for 8 years and older and you need at least 2 players to play. Wonky retails for $19.95 and I can tell you below that it is well worth the price.

This had to be our favorite. This game was super easy to get started playing.

Watch a little of our silly game playing here on Youtube!

You open the box and see 9 blocks, 54 cards that tell you what to stack during the game and a storage bag.

To get started you simply draw cards and start stacking the odd shaped blocks to try to get the other players to make the tower fall on their turn! You will see there are some surprise cards that help change the game up, like reverse!

This is a very fast paced game that can be played again and again. Most times when we played this we would go for 5 or 6 times and only have 15 minutes into game playing time. I actually love starting our mornings with short games to get good spirits moving and this has been one that I have used a lot since it arrived.

Tapple: Fast Word Fun For Everyone.

Tapple is for ages 8 years and older and you need at least 2 people to play but can have no more than 8. Tapple retails for $19.95

The only missing component from this was batteries for the timer to operate.

Tapple is a wheel with the alphabet that you seriously tap the letters down while playing the game. To get started you simply pick a category card, then say a word that fits the card, tap the first letter of the word on the wheel and then pass the Tapple wheel to the next person.

There are 36 different cards with tons of categories to pick from.

My kids picked up very fast that they didn't need to know how to spell the word just the first sound. With my smallest son being dyslexic this was actually a really great game that was not intimidating to him.

Pumpkin Dump Cake Recipe

It's Fall ya'll!!

My favorite time of year for so many reasons.

I love cooking and although I am normally an apple fanatic I do also enjoy some pumpkin things too. I ran across a similar recipe on Facebook and wanted to try it. I adjusted it to my liking and here is what we did:

15oz Pumpkin Filling
10oz evaporated milk
1 cup brown sugar
3 eggs (beaten)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 yellow cake mix
2 sticks melted butter
1 cup crushed graham crackers

Mix pumpkin, milk, sugar, eggs and spices.
Pour into long cake pan.
Sprinkle yellow cake mix and graham crackers on top.
Last pour melted butter.

Bake 45 minutes at 350.

I already bought the items to make this not one more time but two more times! It was that good. It was super easy. This was my first "dump cake" and I loved it. Simple, easy and good!

Enjoy.

Weekly Wrap Up 6

This was once again a week that just didn't go as planned. It kills me to have these weeks. I can't tolerate the routine break and the feeling that I have no control over my schedule or day.

This week had a lot of meetings for our foster son 4 out of 5 days included me having to be somewhere for him. Foster parenting is exhausting, period. I remember that God lead us to this and I am praying for the strength to continue in this journey to help these children.

Zachary finished up a Social Studies comprehension book from The Mailbox that we started around January. We loved them with our older two children and figured it was time to break them out for Zac, he really has enjoyed them. Toward the end he was able to read a lot of the paragraph all by himself and that was huge!

Lexi is really learning a lot of skills drawing and sketching this year. I am very happy with her progress. Yes most of her pictures are of horses but I don't mind.

Kyle is really loving his hands on science this year. He completed another project for this week which was a "smart bot." He had to wire all the fittings and electronics and then put the case on so it could work and roll around the house. He did well and got it to work great!

Thursday and Friday my guys left for a trip with Papaw. They headed for Illinois to pack up some tree stands and cameras from the deer hunting land. They had fun having quality time with him.

Alexis and I took advantage of the alone time too. Thursday we took a road trip to Knoxville, TN to get a large candle supply order then Friday we took off and shopped for clothes at her favorite store!

I didn't get to walk at all this week because of weather and crazy schedule I really let myself down because I could of worked out inside but just didn't. Must do better this week!

I made a lot of candles this week so we could get our candle store on Etsy restocked as much as possible. Please check out our shop Simply Pure Soy Candles.

Weekly Wrap Up Weeks 4 & 5 (RoadTrip)

Update here on the blog since the last 2 weeks I have been MIA...

Week 4 was very, very busy for us you see we where getting ready for a week long vacation several states away, so on top of normal household chores and life while homeschooling too we had packing and making sure everything was in order for the 9 days we would be gone.

Giving the babies some last minute attention.

Week 4 wasn't a full week but we did complete school Monday through Wednesday. Thursday was sent packing and running errands and Friday we left for Georgia! Can you say long road trip?

Friday and Saturday we spent in Atlanta visiting the aquarium and zoo. The Aquarium was nice but I will be honest I expected more. The main reason we went was because it is promoted as the world's largest and so that drew us. We loved seeing the Whale Sharks and that was worth the trip because they have 4 huge ones to observe. I will say I love Ripley's in Gatlinburg, TN better. Next we visited Zoo Atlanta and became members. The zoo was a wonderful place and we loved seeing the Giant Panda's for the first time. We stayed at Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Stockbridge and that my friends wasn't the place to stay MISTAKE. Poor customer service and the room had 5 - YES 5 things wrong with it and once they moved us they refunded $15 (which wasn't even enough to cover the tax from one day). So stay somewhere else when going to Atlanta.

Sunday we left Atlanta for Panama City Beach in Florida. We loved our week trip there. We had never been and oh it was gorgeous. The weather was wonderfully perfect and I laughed and joked about of course it was I had prayed for 2 months.

The week was filled full of lazy, sun soaking, sand bumming, water fun... PERFECT.

We enjoyed several good meals and loved playing putt putt too.

The ride home and the hotel in Atlanta was the only bad from 9 days.

Loved our vacation and I could of stayed forever. I had everything I needed right there with me. Oh how it done my soul good to rest and take in my favorite creation on God's earth. I can't wait for the day when our residential home is paid off (2 years baby) and we can purchase a beach home.

I hope your weeks have been filled with greatness.

Super Teacher Worksheets { Review }

Super Teacher Worksheets Review

Review item up for today is Super Teacher Worksheets  .

My family received an Individual Membership, the membership lasts for one entire year - yes 365 days and the total cost is only $19.95 for the entire year!

I used this actually with all three of my children ages 10, 12 and 15. Super Teacher Worksheets has a wide variety of topics to choose from - over 10,000 activities!

I was so shocked at the amount of variety on this site first, secondly all I could do was dig in and find items to start printing off for reviewing all our skills since we had took a break for an entire month before getting our new school year started.

The website is very user friendly. I am very happy with each element of my profile that I could add to and navigating around the site has been very easy as well.

Here is how you get started:

You log in after you set up your account.
Choose what topic and area you need.
You can also just add the items to your file cabinet to access later.
Then simply print the worksheet out.
You have the option to print the answer key to all the worksheets as well. I actually didn't do this the majority of the time.

I found it easiest to add all the items I was interested in printing to my file cabinet and then go into my file to access all of them and print from that page.

We used many different topics through out the review period; map skills, comprehension, fraction review, multiplication drills, word searches and so much more.

My kids loved using these worksheets. Since it was the beginning of our school year when we actually started using the worksheets we mainly have used them as drills first thing in the mornings to really get our brain to working.

I normally print our worksheets on Saturday or Sunday for the following week. My oldest child has only had a few pages because he is 15 there isn't much content for him, however, for my smaller two kids there is a lot of stuff to choose from because the site is mainly geared for the elementary age!

I have been printing off anywhere from 2 to 4 pages each morning for both of them. We start our day with the worksheets then move on to our normal routine.

I actually loved them too! I love using worksheets to drill facts or information because normally it doesn't take but a few minutes to get a good worksheet complete and you have really used your brain to get it workin in a very short amount of time.

Overall, I believe this is one of the best websites I have be introduced too! The site has so much to choose from and they cover every topic you could think of for an elementary level and there isn't just worksheets - they have GAMES too!

The value of the yearly price is very reasonable for all the resources you have access too.

Weekly Wrap Up 3

Welcome to week 3!

Honestly this week I had a bad attitude, not the kids. I was tried a lot and just not really feelin' it several days. I tried to adjust that because as us homeschool momma's know that rubs off on our kiddos. To help I just tweeked our routine a little, I required a little less work this week too. I am not above that at all.

Our new math came this week and the kids love it. I hope that stays the same. We are now using Horizon's Math for my two smaller children.

Alexis has enjoyed drawing this week a lot out of her self teaching books:

I think they are beautiful! She is getting better and I am very proud of her for trying because she gets pretty upset if they don't turn out the way she wants!

We had a few drawing experiences this week like the Dinosaur below:

Everyone had a lot of fun and I am so glad that the kids ask for this during our homeschool day. We normally try to do something like this 3 or 4 times a week.

Kyle had some small issues with Algebra this week but nothing that my math smart husband couldn't help! He also got a lot more driving time in which makes him so happy.

I guess I wasn't the only one who needed some "down time" a few days this week! Isn't he just the cutest? They have grown a lot.

Zachary has been plowing his way through All About Reading Level 2 and he is really doing great. We have had to alter a few of the activities so he doesn't think they are "babyish" but other than that wonderful. This lesson he was using his highlighter tape to divide the syllables.

I also was so happy to open my Etsy shop finally this week. I have waited so long for that to happen and finally this week it started again! Please check out our Etsy store: Simply Pure Soy Candles. We have made candles since 2007 and took a break when we moved and it has been 4 years. You can follow our facebook page here too.

Thanks guys I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

 Enjoy your holiday weekend!
